Christian Tiling is a freshman biology teacher at Wauwatosa West for the 2018-19 school year. He’s been a teacher for 12 years, teaching previously at the Milwaukee Academy of Science. Currently he teaches three sections of advanced biology and two sections of regular biology.

How would you describe your opinions on West?

“I’m finding it to be very enjoyable teaching here. The kids are wonderful. They’re very much willing to try all the activities we put in front of them.”

How would you describe the transition going from one school to another?

“I don’t think the transition for teaching at one school and then another is that hard. It’s fairly similar, kids are kids and students are students. The main thing is that West is a much bigger school than what I’m used to and how that changes the way procedures are done. But, I’ve had a lot of support from my co-workers in the science department.”

What are you looking forward to in the school year?

“I studied evolution in college and I’m looking forward to once we get into evolution and ecology. These topics are really interesting and relatable to students, and I enjoy teaching these units.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of school?

“I like to spend time with my family. I actually love to play basketball, I do that a couple of times a week. I also really enjoy bike riding, I do that an awful lot. I enjoy reading anything that is science fiction. Specifically I like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.”

Overall Tiling said, “I’m really enjoying my start to the year here at Wauwatosa West. It’s a very great school.”
